We estimate that close to 5m people will attend UK music festivals in the UK this year. Over 1m love it so much that they will go to more than one.
As you would expect, the average age will depend on the type of festival, but our best guess is that one third will be made up of young people between the ages of 18 & 24.
Depends again on the festival of course, but the ticketing site 'skiddle' reckons that the average cost in the UK is close to £400 per person.
A disproportionate number of younger people don't stay at a festival for the full length of time that their ticket allows. This is largely due to the fact that they weren't prepared for some of the challenges that a festival can bring
It's a positive trend that the number of reported crimes at UK festivals appears to be on the decrease, with the latest available figures from the National Police Chiefs Council stating a total of 10,795 crimes reported in 2019. But that's only the number that are reported..
It breaks our hearts to read about younger people losing their lives at music festivals. There were at least 5 deaths in 2018 and the same in 2019. One tragic loss in 2024 would be one too many
